The PlayFight Prescription
Culturally accepted spaces for young boys to understand themselves physically to better navigate the world.
What Is the Playfight Prescription.
There is now mountain of science to back research suggesting that boys who become verbally or physically violent adults, where often not played with in a Rough and Tumble context enough as children. They never got the chance to understand how to use their body, calibrate force, and learn how to truly develop empathy. We have resorted to drugging young children with ADHD medication to prevent outbursts and “make them focus”
This medication directly acts upon the receptors in the brain responsible for a young boys play desire.
This action causes children to deeply suppress their basic natural function and need to play causing monumental psychological and physical malnutrition on their formative years of becoming a man in society.
“Young boys are inherently driven and Highly physical people, 53% of them have now been drugged to suppress these qualities. to deaden that drive is a fundamental denial to a young mans nature and a destructive act against healthy masculinity in our culture.” - Rafe Kelley
The main problem is, this isn’t going to change fast.
The research shows that 60% of parents raising children today suffering the same lack of physical play in their upbringings, and now with the rising of pressure in households and the growing of acceptance in medication and technology as “pacifiers” for boys, physical play has become forgotten language in most homes.
The Playfight Prescription is here to Challenge this…
Our Mission is to create culturally accepted spaces where boys and young men can begin to remember the forgot language of rough and tumble in safe, guided and supported setting.
This mission is imperative to give young men the opportunity to develop physical intelligence, cultivate a strong sense of resilience, have an embodied understanding of self control, empathy and social skills, allow them to properly develop their brain and cognitive functions and allow them to healthily express their physicality and masculinity.
